San Antonio Airport Braces For Peak Holiday Travel

The busiest air travel period of the year begins Thursday morning- a full week before Thanksgiving.  Officials at the San Antonio International Airport say the biggest crowds will there from 5:00 a.m. - 7:30 a.m.

To ensure passengers reach their flights on time they suggest the following:

·        Arrive two hours before an early flight and 90 minutes before flights leaving after 7:30 a.m.

·        Print your boarding pass before you arrive or at an airport kiosk

·        Avoid wearing or carrying metal items that may slow down the security check

·        Have a parking plan.

A new, short-term parking garage is still under construction. And –even without the holiday crowds- the long-term garage at times fills up forcing unsuspecting motorists to lose valuable time as they drive to surface lots that are further from the terminal.

To avoid that frustrating hunt check the airport website before you head to your flight.  Airport officials say it will clearly state where there’s space and which parking areas are full.  Shuttles between the lots and terminals run frequently - every five to eight minutes.

If you’re picking up a passenger officials are requesting you to use the cell-phone lot. The cell-phone lot has free Wi-Fi you can use while you’re waiting for your arrival to call.  And you’ll be freeing up precious space that may be needed by someone boarding a flight.
