Updated at 9:55 a.m.: Brett Kavanaugh's nomination to the Supreme Court cleared a key procedural hurdle after the Senate voted to limit debate on Friday.

The Senate voted 51-49 to advance Kavanaugh. Two senators broke with their party: Democrat Joe Manchin voted yes, and Republican Lisa Murkowski voted no. The action ends debate on the Supreme Court nominee, setting up a final vote this weekend.
