Historic Alameda Theater Lifts Curtain On Restoration Plans

One of the last grand movie palaces built in America, the Alameda Theater was a beloved staple for Spanish-language performing artsin downtown San Antonio from the 1950s to the 1970s
In the decades since, the building sat empty. Now, efforts to revitalize Houston Street and the San Pedro Creek include plans to reopen the Alameda.

As part of City and Bexar County's collaboration to restore the area, Texas Public Radio will be relocating its headquarters to the stage house building adjacent to the historic theater.

How is the restoration project funded and organized? What changes can the public expect in the near future? What attractions will be coming to the Alameda?
