Before Hill Country Opera celebrates its fourth birthday in February, it's celebrating New Year's Eve.
"We have an event coming up in New Braunfels at the Seekatz Opera House," says Hill Country Opera President Arden Dorn. "We are hoping to convert New Braunfels to old Vienna, Austria."
Vienna celebrates the coming of the New Year with a masked ball, and now, so is Hill Country Opera. The event starts with drinks, followed by a four-course dinner, and according to Dorn, then the music starts.
"A wonderful act two of Die Fledermaus, which translated from German is 'the bat.' It's just a a wonderful operetta," says Dorn. "We have a chorus of about 20 people who will be singing beautiful old Viennese waltzes."
"It's a masquerade ball," says Dorn. "If you don't have a mask we have plenty available. It's fun because nobody knows who you are and for you gentlemen who are concerned about your dancing, nobody will know."
