Heavy rains have caused the FM 2900 bridge over the Llano River in Kingsland to collapse.
Llano County authorities recommend those living within a quarter mile of the river to evacuate.
That rain north of Llano in Mason County will crest later today, said meteorologist Mark Lenz, and that is going to end up in Llano Wednesday morning.
"The river forecast center is looking for a crest of 37 to 38 feet, so a couple feet lower than we had this morning, but still significant flow for the next 24-36 hours down the Llano River, anywhere along the Llano River," he said.

Lens said people should stay off flooded roadways and move to higher areas within in their homes if waters rise near their homes.
Floodwaters affecting areas around the Llano river will not be subsiding anytime soon, he added.
The Llano River is pouring over its banks at a record 40 feet, according to the Llano County Emergency Management's Facebook page.
Texas Task Force 1, a statewide search and rescue team, is working to address the flooding.
Spokesperson Steven Bjune said they’ve deployed nine water rescue squads.
“So our folks will be working with local responders, particularly at low water crossings, and any communities that go underwater or where the river comes up," he said.

Authorities said the Farm to Market 2900 Bridge collapsed at around 9:15 a.m.
According to CBS Austin, which was on the river's banks when the bridge washed out:
"The bridge collapsed just in the past minute or so. We heard a very loud rumbling noise, and everybody had their eyes on the bridge. It is completely collapsed. Now you can't even tell that there was a bridge there at all."
Shelters have been set up at Kingsland Community Center, First Baptist Church and Inmans Kitchen of Llano.

Guadalupe River
The Guadalupe River at Kerrville has peaked but has not reached flooding level, said the NWS.
The river has overtaken camping areas and low lying ranch land in Kerrville and Comfort. Kerrville police and the Kerr County Sheriff's Office report no major evacuations, but there are some street closures. Boerne police also report no major problems.
The gauge located at the Guadalupe River at Kerrville has been malfunctioning and did NOT reach record flood level. USGS is currently addressing the issue. The latest reliable reading was 12.07 ft at 1PM. Data could be questionable until the issue has been resolved.
