The City of San Antonio’s Department of Planning and Community Development (DPCD) has begun the evaluation process of limited purpose annexation for five priority areas.

The areas are I-10 West near Camp Bullis, Hwy 281 North, I-10 East inside Loop 1604, Hwy 151 along Culebra Road, and Hwy 90 at Loop 1604, according to the DPCD Director John Dugan. The total area is around 61 square miles. “Limited purpose extends a city’s zoning, land use, and building codes into those areas on an interim basis until we do the final studies,” said Dugan. “People aren’t taxed, but they do get the benefit of those land use controls,” he added.

Three information sessions are scheduled over the next two months. The first is this Thursday at 7 p.m. at the Cliff Morton Development and Business Center at 1901 South Alamo.
