City Council is considering more protections for the views and vistas surrounding historic places, landmarks and cultural resources in San Antonio.

The "viewshed" around four sites – the Tower Life Building, San Fernando Cathedral, Hays Street Bridge and Woodlawn Lake – have been recommendedfor approval by the Council's Arts, Culture & Heritage Committee.

A visual surveycompleted in March by the City's Office of Historic Preservation shows citizens' interest in protecting additional landmarks, including the Japanese Tea Garden and Market Square

How have other Texas cities like Austin handled viewshed policies? Could new regulations impact nearby buildings and businesses?

What would the creation of Viewshed Protection Districts mean for local growth and development?
