On Wednesday, Air Force investigators announced the findings of their probe into cases of sexual assault by military training instructors at Joint Base San Antonio-Lackland.

Since January 1, 2012, dozens of cases have been uncovered; five instructors have been convicted, one was punished for military violations, and General Edward Rice, Commander of the Air Education Training Command, said dozens of other charges are being considered.

City leaders are moving quickly on the plan proposed by Mayor Julián Castro that will provide full day pre-K to thousands of the city’s four year olds.

Just one week after the election, the first two model education centers for Pre-K 4 SA have been identified for consideration.

As we head toward the next legislative session, one bill on the agenda might look very familiar. It's the texting while driving law that was passed, but then vetoed by Governor Rick Perry last session. However the law has been implemented on the local level in certain cities and with mixed results.

It may seem like a joke or political sour grapes, but a petition calling for Texas to secede from the union has gathered enough signatures for the White House to review and respond. 

The petition calls for the federal government to allow Texas to peacefully secede and create a new government. It was posted on Friday on the White House website on a page called “We the People.” By Monday there were over 25,000 signers – that’s the trigger for the White House to review and respond to the demand.

After a toll-free trial run, State Highway 130 has begun charging motorists to use the Seguin-to-Austin 85 mile-per-hour highway. Texas Uniting for Reform and Freedom (TURF) is urging drivers to boycott the fastest highway in the United States.

With the $13 one-way toll now in effect on SH 130, going to Austin from Seguin and back could cost you almost half a tank of gas.
