Military Dogs Showing Signs Of PTSD From Combat Deployments

America’s wars have long taken their toll on the people who fight them, and the recent attention to post-traumatic stress disorder has helped improve treatment for those who suffer; however, nightly newscasts and newspaper headlines never mention the military working dogs who are also changed by the combat zone.

"Ultimately we want these dogs to become military working dogs and go down range and save lives,” said Tech. Sgt. Joe Null, who fosters canine companions for the first few months of their lives to socialize them.

Travis' 'Victory or Death' Letter Returns To The Alamo On Friday

The famous 'Victory or Death' letter written by Travis before the final battle of the Alamo only made it as far as Gonzalez.

The famous Victory or Death Letter written by William B. Travis during the fall of the Alamo will be returned to the shrine here in San Antonio on Friday.

Travis wrote the letter on Feb. 24, 1836 as a plea for help when the Alamo’s defenders were surrounded by several thousand Mexican troops; it's now been 177 years.

Castro Meets Mexico's President Peña Nieto To Talk Trade/Immigration

Looking to increase trade ties, San Antonio Mayor Julián Castro met with Mexican President Enrique Peña Nieto on Thursday. Castro also updated the president on U.S. immigration reform. 

Peña Nieto’s presidential term is only several months old and Castro said he’s looking for ways to improve the flow of trade between the two neighbors. Castro said he was in Mexico City looking to promote San Antonio as a major trade hub for Mexico.

I couldn’t have timed better the decision to replay my all time favorite Masterpiece Theatre Classic, "The Forsyte Saga," than the week the Metropolitan would broadcast its "Carmen." I had never really considered the fact that the two works and their heroine’s were so close; more sisters than cousins.

Copperleaf Quintet Reflects With Lenten Music

San Antonio's vocal chamber group the Copperleaf Quintet, has an afternoon of music for Lent planned this weekend. On the program are works by Francisco Guerrero and Tomas Luis de Victoria.

"His [de Victoria's] lines are just so exquisite, and when they are so exposed by just having one person on a part singing them, it's just a wonderful thing to hear!" said Ruth Moreland, the director and soprano for the group.

Korean Energy Company To Bring 400 Jobs To Brooks City-Base

The Korean energy company Nexolon has chosen San Antonio as its headquarters in the U.S., and promised Wednesday to bring 400 high-paying jobs to the area.

Nexolon America broke ground on a new 240,000 square foot facility at Brooks City-Base to manufacture solar panels for sale in North and South America.
