John Lennon Bus Helps Kids Make Music, Art

The John Lennon Educational Bus stopped this week in San Antonio, where it was stationed at Café College downtown.  The staff visited middle schools,  high schools and colleges where they help students write, record, and make videos for original music. 

Some students have never played instruments, so the bus staff also gave basic lessons. The bus has been around for 16 years, and they anticipate a second bus will be deployed in May for use in Europe.

Thanks To Sequestration Cuts, No Air Show At Randolph This Year

Joint Base San Antonio has canceled plans for a November air show at Joint Base San Antonio-Randolph.  The Air Force Thunderbirds were scheduled to headline the event that included other military aircraft.

According to JBSA, Air Force aviation support to public events has been canceled to save flying hours to support readiness needs.

Connecting Worlds And Culture With Choral Music

Wednesday night there is a chance to hear choral music with a twist. Mwangaza Children's Choir is a group of Ugandan children (ages 8-12) who represent the orphaned and poor youth of their country.

Mwangaza means "shining light" in Swahili. The majority of their concerts are performed in English, but some parts are in their native language.

Disagreements On Key Issues In Three-Candidate District 3 Race

Dist. 3 Councilwoman Leticia Ozuna six months after her appointment to the San Antonio City Council works at her field office at Brooks City Base.

Voters will head to the polls on  Saturday, May 11, and the race for the District 3 seat is getting tense. The seat's current occupant, Leticia Ozuna, did not win the seat by election. She was appointed in January 2012 to fulfill Jennifer Ramos' term.

Ramos left the city council to focus on a campaign for Bexar County Commissioner Precinct 1 a race that she ultimately lost.

Deraas Pleads Guilty, Gets Bad Conduct Discharge

A former military training instructor at Joint Base San Antonio-Lackland has been sentenced following his court-martial that began Monday morning.

Staff Sgt. Ryan Derass pleaded guilty to charges of pursuing sexual relationships with five female trainees in another training class and to charges of dereliction of duty for forcing the recruits in his training class to fill their canteens with water from the toilet.

The case marks the first time an instructor was charged in connection with both male and female trainees.

The Greater San Antonio Chamber of Commerce has been making this trip for 35 years as a way to represent the whole community before Congress and military leadership.

Army North Commander Taking Post At Georgia Military College

U.S. Army North at Joint Base San Antonio-Fort Sam Houston will be looking for a new commander now that Lt. General William Caldwell IV is leaving to become president of the Georgia Military College.

Caldwell has submitted his retirement paperwork to the Department of Defense and has announced to friends that he will leave Texas to become the next president of the military college in Milledgeville, Georgia.

YOSA Player Selected To Carnegie Hall's First National Youth Orchestra

It's a Friday afternoon, and while Weston McCall could be playing a video game, hanging out with friends, or studying Latin, he is playing musical excerpts on his French Horn in the TPR studios.

"Not all my friends really know all the stuff I am involved in, I mean they know I'm in YOSA, the Youth Orchestras of San Antonio, and a few of my friends know I applied for it, but my friends at school - they're proud of me, they're really happy, but I know that they have no clue about what I'm talking about."
