Veteran Congressman Lloyd Doggett Beats Narvaiz In Congressional District 35

Congressman Lloyd Doggett will be headed back to the nation’s Capital, but this time to represent an entirely new district. The 2010 Census birthed Congressional District 35 due to the rise in the Hispanic population, and on election night, Doggett proved to be the long-lasting representative he has come to be known for.

Doggett expressed some disappointment in moving on from a district that spanned the Rio Grande Valley to Bastrop.

Joaquín Castro wins Charlie Gonzalez' 20th Congressional District In Landslide

Joaquín at the Democratic National Convention in Charlotte, N.C., where the Castro brothers introduced themselves to the nation.

With nearly 64 percent of the votes in Congressional District 20, Joaquín Castro won the seat being vacated by the long-serving Charlie Gonzalez who is retiring at the end of this term.

San Antonio Mayor Julián Castro introduced his brother, Joaquín as a newly-elected congressman, saying that he will be a breath of fresh air in Washington, D.C.

Pre-K 4 SA Referendum Passes, But Not Without A Battle

Early returns had Pre-K 4 SA in a dead heat in early voting numbers, but votes supporting the measure gained ground as the election-day results were tallied.

  • The early education tax increase passed with 53 percent of the vote;  early vote totals showed votes supporting the proposition only 87 votes ahead of votes opposing.

The crowd at the Castro election headquarters was jubilant as Mayor Julián Castro said early in the evening that he believed the measure would pass, “and I think San Antonians have made the right decision tonight.”

E.R. Doctor Donna Campbell Takes On School Teacher John Courage in Senate Dist. 25

Texas Senate District 25 (orange) serves people in six different counties and has been one of the major story lines of this election season.

(Update: 12:10 a.m.) About 95 percent of precincts have been counted and Campbell is maintaining 66 percent of the vote to Courage's 34 percent; safe to say that this race is over.

(Update: 10:30 p.m.) With 72 percent of the vote counted, Campbell has 66 percent of the vote and looks to have this race easily won.

(Update: 8:50 p.m.) Texas Secretary of State's Office showing Campbell with 67 percent of the vote, effectively holding on to her commanding lead in early voting.

(Update: 12:00 a.m) Nearly 90 percent of the votes counted now and Doggett looks to be the winner still holding about 63 percent of the vote.

(Update: 10:30 p.m.) With 66 percent of the vote now counted, Doggett is maintaining 63 percent of the vote.

(Update: 9:00 p.m.) Texas Secretary of State's Office showing Doggett with about 63 percent of the vote, carrying the lead out of early voting, where he led by a nearly two to one margin.

There is so much money tossed around during the campaign season that it could make your head explode trying to figure out where it's all going. The Texas Tribune compiled all the donations and hand-offs, and here is how each Texas federal candidate stacked up.
On Oct. 25, federal candidates filed their pre-general reports, the last campaign finance reports before the Nov. 6 general election. These reports are our last look at how much money each candidate has on hand before the big day. As we did with the state filings last week, we have compiled all of these numbers.

KPAC's 30th Anniversary: A Dream Became Reality in 1982

When I think back to all the improvements to the station and the additions to the library it does feel like three decades, but in time spent presenting this great music, it hasn’t seemed that long at all.

Mock Election Helps Fenwick Elementary Students See Value In Voting

Inside the Fenwick Elementary School cafeteria, elections officials set up a table with ballots ready to hand out to the youngest of the nation’s patriots, student voters. Here the elementary children cast their ballots in a mock election, while in the nearby gym, adults are doing the real thing.

"I firmly believe that we have fought to have the right to vote and to choose our representatives,” said Dr. Tambrey Ozuna, who is the principal at Fenwick. “And I want my students to take that message with them when they get older. I want them to have that instilled in them."

Mayor Castro Finalizing the 'Leg Work' on Eve of Election Day

San Antonio Mayor Julián Castro and District 4 Councilman Rey Saldaña are going the distance for a program they say is going to change the educational trajectory of the city.

Starting from Lions Field Park on Broadway, children from the George Gervin Academy helped the two start the run, where 5,700 of their steps represent the number of San Antonio’s four year olds that are not currently served by a quality, full-day pre-kindergarten program.
