Breast cancer screening centers in San Antonio will now have more financial resources to work with. TPR’s Terry Gildea has the story.
July 27, 2010 · The San Antonio affiliate of Susan G. Komen Race for the Cure donated $850,000 in grants to breast cancer screening and treatment centers in Bexar County. Kimberly Hinze is the development director for the San Antonio chapter. She says the money will help uninsured patients get the initial care they need.
“The money that we awarded is going to nine local nonprofits that support breast cancer screening, treatment, and education in Bexar County. So $850,000.00 is pouring right back into the community that was raised through events like ‘Race for the Cure,’ and other fundraising events that we do here in San Antonio,” said Kinze.
Since 1997, the San Antonio affiliate has raised more than $7.5 million for local treatment programs and $4.1 million for breast cancer research.
