December 10, 2009 · This Saturday, the 110th Army-Navy game will be played at Lincoln Financial Field in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania.
Navy has won seven straight match-ups, including a 38 to 0 drubbing of the Army’s Black Knights in last year’s game.
Between the two academies there are six young men from San Antonio participating in Saturday’s game.
One of them, Ramiro Vela, who goes by the nickname “Ram” was featured in this past Sunday’s issue of Parade magazine. He’s a senior at the Naval Academy, majoring in economics. Texas Public Radio's Ernie Villarreal talks to Vela, who was in Annapolis.
Vela attended Taft High School. He told he had aspirations of playing Division I college football since he was in high school. After graduating, Vela will be stationed in South Carolina.
The four other Midshipmen from San Antonio are Jordan Eddington and Gary Myers, both who graduated from Taft. Greg Jones, he attended Ronald Reagan High School and from James Madison High School, Josh Corby. There is one San Antonian attending West Point, he is Alfred McDaniel, who attended Judson High School.
The Army-Navy game is scheduled for Saturday, December 12, 2009. Kickoff is at 1:30 central.
