October 8, 2009 On Sunday, October 11 Texas Public Radio will host the 3rd annual AccessAbility Fest in honor of National Disability Awareness Month.
It’s at the Institute of Texan Cultures, in the "Back 40" grounds area off Bowie Street. The event takes place 1 to 5 p.m. and is free and open to the public.
Persons with disabilites and their families are encouraged to come out to gather offer information, resources, ideas and support from over ninety disabilty service organizations.
Melanie Cawthon is the Development Director at ChildSafe and a volunteer organizer for Accessibility Fest. Texas Public Radio's David Martin Davies spoke to Cawthon about the event.
