National Trust for Historic Preservation's "This Place Matters" Contest

October 5, 2009 ·The National Trust for Historic Preservation launched a contest earlier this year titled "This Place Matters."

The National Trust invited individuals to submit photos of places in their communities they believed were places to be saved.  These places were not necessarily historic in nature, but important enough to the individual.

More than 2500 entries were submitted to the National Trust, and out of those, twelve were selected nationally as contest finalists.

One of the twelve selected is an entry submitted by Audrey Zamora Johnson, an assistant city attorney for the City of San Antonio.

Her submission is of an old, vacant Humble Oil gas station presently slowing being overtaken by weeds and brush.  You have an opportunity to vote for your favorite photograph by going to www.preservationnation.org and following the instructions.  Voting ends at 11a.m. on Friday, October 9, 2009.
