The U.S. Air Force will hire more than one thousand civilians in the next few months, and some of those jobs will be coming to San Antonio.
July 27, 2009 ·Officials at the Air Force Personnel Center, headquartered at Randolph Air Force Base, announced last week that 1200 civilians will be hired nationwide.
April Rowden is a spokeswoman for the center. She says airmen were being pulled away from their primary duties to run unit support programs. Now civilians will have those jobs.
“They’re going to be managing the government travel card programs, the safety programs, all the programs within the unit that are required to keep the units running properly,” Rowden said.
Twenty three of those jobs will go to Lackland Air Force Base and twelve will go to Randolph. The salaries will range between thirty and forty-three thousand dollars a year. |
