San Antonio Film Festival

June 25, 2009 ·“It’s not a microwave burrito,” Adam Rocha says of the San Antonio Film Festival, explaining that as the festival celebrates its Quinceañera this year, it’s bigger than ever, with four full days of films and workshops at the Instituto Cultural de Mexico in downtown San Antonio’s Hemisfair Park.

Rocha, a teacher by day, spends his free time year-round organizing the San Antonio Film Festival, which spotlights short films and features from the Alamo City as well as talent from across the state and around the globe.

The festival runs June 25 through 28.  Free workshops take place Friday, June 26 and Saturday, June 27.

On Friday at 11 a.m., Nuevo León Film Bureau chief Rodrigo González will talk about shooting films in Mexico, and on Saturday at 11, Oscar-nominated documentary filmmaker Adrian Belic (Genghis Blues) will talk about finding and crafting a story in documentary filmmaking.

Texas Public Radio’s Nathan Cone welcomed Adam Rocha and filmmaker Eric Fonseca to the Texas Public Radio studios to talk about the festival, the films, and the future of filmmaking in San Antonio.
