November 7, 2008 · San Antonio's filmmaking community is being led by the local chapter of the National Association of Latino Independent Producers, also known as NALIP, to determine the future of filmmaking in San Antonio. Some key players in the local film community will be gathering at the Guadalupe Cultural Center starting tonight at 6 to discuss San Antonio's potential as a movie-making city.
NALIP executive Chair, Veronica Hernandez says this dialogue is an imperative aspect of the event.
"It is probably the most important thing of this whole weekend is to show that we're united and that we want more and we're reaching out to the city for support."
San Antonio's film community has been considered fragmented for many years, but with so many coming together this weekend, Veronica says it's an opportunity to show support for a cohesive premiere local film industry.
"What we need to know is what is it going to take and how active do the filmmakers want to be in seeing this happen."
Tonight's dialogue kicks off the 3rd annual Adelante Film Forum, where people of all ages and level can learn more about the film industry. Professionals from various parts of the industry will be leading the workshops. Veronica encourages attending as many workshops as possible.
"You might want to stay and learn about the rest of the industry because it all goes together." |
