| July 31, 2008 · Music becomes art at the official closing party for Contemporary Art Month at the Museo Alameda. Innovative DJ music from the Mexican Institute of Sound merges with performance art to create something new.
The performance takes place in conjunction with the opening of a new exhibit of contemporary art from Mexico called "Escultura Social: A New Generation of Art from Mexico City." Escultura Social translates to social sculpture, a concept created by German artist, Joseph Beuys and adopted by Mexico's contemporary artists.
Alameda Interim Director Eliseo Rios explains,
"How does art impact lives? How does it impact the world? How can we make it better? How can we comment to actually understand the world and make it better, which is the whole sense of social sculpture. Everyone an artist says Joseph Beuys." |
