June 23, 2008 · Just north of downtown, an area of commercial businesses and residences is undergoing some speculation. The idea is to turn the area, being called, River North, into a hip new-urban area connecting the affluent neighborhood of Alamo Heights to Downtown San Antonio.
Currently there are store-front businesses and winding road neighborhoods in the area, which seem primed for renovation. As plans go forward the city and the Office of Planning and Community Development are asking local business owners to take part in a planning team.
The team will consist of institutional and corporate representatives and five local business representatives, one from each of the districts surrounding the area.
