![]() Beginning October 1, 2010, Texas Public Radio will strengthen its broadcast line-up to bring our listeners more news all week on KSTX 89.1 FM. We recently sought the input of our listeners to determine how to better improve our service to the community. The result of this initiative has led us to revise our KSTX programming mission to be a more comprehensive source for local, regional, national and international news. What You Can Expect More Local News Throughout the DayBeginning October 1, 2010, you will hear more local news reports from KSTX during Morning Edition, All Things Considered, and throughout the day during various hourly news breaks. We have expanded our news team in recent months, and will continue the expansion with the addition of a new reporter focused on regional cultural and political issues pertaining to the U.S.-Mexico border. BBC World Service, Seven Nights A WeekTo provide more news with an international perspective, KSTX will air the BBC World Service every evening beginning at 10 p.m. More National NewsKSTX is pleased to announce the addition of the following programs to its schedule:
KSTX adds another program from the Marketplace family that focuses on personal finance and how the week's business and economic news impact your wallet. Vigeland and her guests help listeners map out the course to financial well-being, offering advice on topics like how to pay for college and whether to buy or lease a car as well as the individual impact of national stories. Marketplace Money airs Saturdays at 3 p.m. and Sundays at 6 a.m. Your Favorite Cultural and Entertainment Programs on the WeekendsIn order to provide a consistent schedule of news programming throughout the week, KSTX has rescheduled some of its cultural and entertainment programming during the weekend, when you might have more time to listen. Where Can You Find Programs No Longer on the KSTX Broadcast Schedule Texas Public Radio considered every program in its current lineup to evaluate how each program fits with its revised mission to be a comprehensive news source in San Antonio. After a careful evaluation of listener input and audience data, we adjusted our programming to craft a schedule that best adheres to our news-centric mission and strengthens our service to the community. While some programs may no longer be broadcast on KSTX, you can still find them online, and often on demand. You can also find some of our content through other local public media sources. Supporting Our Partners in Public MediaKSTX wanted to support our partners in public media – Trinity University’s KRTU 91.7 FM, San Antonio College’s KSYM 90.1 FM and KLRN Public Television – by avoiding duplication of service and directing our audience to local public media broadcasters that are better able to provide jazz, Americana and other cultural content.
