Find Sebastian Lang-Lessing Scavenger Hunt
After an exhaustive three-year search, the hunt for the new San Antonio Symphony Music Director is over. The Sebastian Lang-Lessing (SLL) era begins this October 2, 2010 with the new music director's debut in a stunning performance with the San Antonio Symphony, the Children's Chorus of San Antonio and the San Antonio Symphony's Mastersingers. Gustav Mahler’s Symphony No. 1, “Titan” will be the featured work at this anticipated debut and the evening will conclude with champagne for the entire audience to toast the next era of the San Antonio Symphony. You can receive free tickets to the Symphony's 2010/11 season opener or any of their other October performances by participating in Symphony's "Find Sebastian Lang Lessing Scavenger Hunt." For the next six weeks, the Symphony will be sending out clues on-air and online directing you to area business where you can find a six-foot tall cardboard cut-out of SLL. Simply take your photo with the cut out and email your picture to tickets@sasymphony.org to receive 2 free tickets to a Symphony performance. You can listen for clues on KPAC 88.3 FM, San Antonio's Classical Oasis, or find them on Twitter, Facebook and on the KPAC blog and Symphony website. No purchase is necessary, and limit one photo submission per person per location. About Sebastian Lang-LessingLang-Lessing performs with almost unlimited energy and passion. From Berlin to Paris, from Australia to Houston, from San Francisco to San Antonio, audiences have been swept away. So, let yourself go and be transported by the power of the music. Sebastian was born in Germany and in high school was an exchange student in Indiana. He and his wife Britta Funck will have a home in San Antonio. In addition to his native German, he is fluent in English, French and Italian and also speaks Spanish. After being awarded the Ferenc Fricsay Prize 1990 in Berlin, he began his professional career with the Hamburg State Opera. Sebastian Lang-Lessing has been Chief Conductor and Artistic Director of the Tasmanian Symphony Orchestra in Australia since 2004. He was Music Director of the Orchestre Symphonique et Lyrique de Nancy in France between 1999 and 2006. Lang-Lessing has led major orchestras all over the world, including: • Orchestre de Paris,• Tokyo Philharmonic Orchestra, • Leipzig Gewandhaus Orchestra, and • radio orchestras of Berlin & Frankfurt. Lang-Lessing’s successful international opera career began when he became resident conductor of the Deutsche Oper Berlin.
