Aquifer levels are currently healthy, but anyone who has lived in south central Texas knows that drought and water restrictions are an inevitability. And with the area's population expected to double by 2050, protecting our most important natural resource must be a priority.

The Edwards Aquifer is essential to the vitality of our community, and we need to be sure that we take responsible measures to conserve our natural resource, both when rain fall is plentiful and scarce.

On June 30, 2010 at Trinity University's Chapman Auditorium we held a solutions-based conversation on water policy and conservation throughout the region. We gathered a panel of water experts to discuss measures we can all take to ensure that we are responsible in our water use as as individuals and as a community.

Panelists

  • Karen Guz - Conservation Director, San Antonio Water System
  • Annalisa Peace - Executive Director, Greater Edwards Aquifer Alliance
  • Suzanne Scott - General Manager, San Antonio River Authority
  • John Donahue - Professor Emeritus, Anthropology, Trinity University
